BOOTCAMP – WHY DISCIPLINE MATTERS

When we watch bootcamps on TV it may seem a little daunting, aggressive and military. The truth is most classes aren’t like that. However, the ones that are might just be what you need.

The intensity of a bootcamp program can be very high, especially because of the fast-paced nature of it. It can seem almost torturous trying to get that exercise in only to realise you’re only half-way. A minute feels like an hour, but when you achieve it, you feel powerful, like you can do anything.

Bootcamps can vary, but they all have a core function, training in intervals in a large group. They are competitive, both within yourself and others. You develop skills that can be taken and used in daily life.

The best skill you can gain out of bootcamp: DISCIPLINE.

The discipline to not give up, to persevere, to get through the toughest of challenges.

Discipline helps with our mental health, it helps us understand tolerance, accountability and how we can gain confidence even in the most difficult scenarios.

I have seen so many people who have developed discipline be better leaders, workers and people.

By gaining disciplinary skills, you learn to be disciplined when it comes to independent workouts, not giving up when the last few reps seem impossible. It can also be used to ensure you stick to a diet and avoid snacking or over-eating.

While bootcamps seem fun, especially with friends, try to take the challenge personally, compete against yourself.

Pretend you are in a movie, fighting to survive, you are the main character, you need these skills to complete the challenges.

Always find the program that is one level tougher than your capability, this will give you a better challenge, and you will achieve it, because you are capable of achieving more than you think.
